The business size of the company has been increasing with new acquisitions being made from time to time (TomTom, n.d). The business focus on innovation and increased business size identifies the distinct phases of the TomTom Company.

The company can be said to be taking moderate risks as it focuses on the innovations on the products and services it is familiar with. This reduces the risk as specialization is high (Kuratko et al., 2011). Due to the innovation aspect of the company, the structure is flexible hence allowing individuals to make some of the decisions. The flexible structure also enables high creativity as employees are at liberty to try new ideas (Scholz, 1987). The competitive nature of the industry also leads to race to quick production and delivery to the consumers. However, based on the increased size of employees, the organizational culture has thus changed to Type Z where each department is controlled independently as a clan. Individuals are held responsible for the ideas and innovations made, however when it comes to decisions, the whole team has to agree on which one to take.
