Several parties press for the passing of a legislation which would aim to stop the practices of legacy admissions on account of the fact that these processes do not give prominence to the candidate’s capabilities on a whole and are merely based to satisfy the college’s funding needs. However, the passing of such legislation is expected to interfere with the rights of the universities to manage its affairs on an independent basis as well as determine the shape of its student’s body.
