Large classes are known to be a distraction as some of the students feels detached from the lecturer and invisible. Most of my classes in freshman and sophomore were large and I usually felt left out and disengaged. Large classes lessen the concentrations and interactivity of the students. Therefore, in a smaller class, the lecturer is able to pay attention to each and every student hence keeping them active. Through interaction, the student’s creativity is enhanced as they discuss various issues and aspects related to the course subject. A small class makes it easy to hold meaningful discussion where each student gets a chance to contribute. Therefore, as stated above, smaller classes and use of experienced teachers is effective in the learning process.
